Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad has a strong connection with Africa. Not only did he live for eight years in Ghana as life-devotee of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, but he also served the country by showing it is possible to grow wheat there. One man who knew Huzoor when he was younger has mentioned: “Huzoor’s humility was incredible. He was a member of the family of the Promised Messiah (as) but he never acted superior. Instead, he always showed humility and treated the African people with great respect.” Even after becoming Khalifa, Huzoor has not forgotten his ties with Ghana and continues to show great love, visiting Ghana and other African countries in 2004 and 2008.
In a Friday sermon in November 2018 in the USA, Huzoor spoke about some of the attitudes about racism people have developed. Huzoor mentioned “In the non-Muslim world, there exists discrimination between the black and white race. In fact, now certain leaders have even claimed that the mental abilities and faculties of people belonging to the white race are superior to those of non-white. Such is the state of their arrogance and every Ahmadi should abstain from such thinking.”
Similarly, Huzoor stated at Jalsa Salana Germany 2017 that: “Islam proclaims that all people are born equal, no matter where they hail from or the colour of their skin.”
All of Huzoor’s beautiful teachings are based on the values brought by Islam 1400 years ago. As the Holy Quran chapter 30, verse 23 it states “And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your tongues and colours. In that surely are Signs for those who possess knowledge.”
