Friday Sermon Summary – 15th August 2025

Friday Sermon, 15th August 2025

In this week’s Friday Sermon, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aba) continued narrating incidents from the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) after the Conquest of Makkah. This was a time when idol worship across Arabia was coming to an end under the guidance of the Prophet (sa).

The Destruction of Manāt
One of the most famous idols of the Arabs was Manāt. It was worshipped by several tribes and held great influence among them. The Holy Prophet (sa) instructed his companions to destroy it. Different narrations mention that Hazrat Sa’d (ra), Abu Sufyan (ra), or Hazrat Ali (ra) carried out the mission. Regardless of the details, the idol was demolished and its worship ended.

The Destruction of Uzzā
Another major idol was Uzzā, worshipped by many tribes and regarded as one of the greatest deities. The Holy Prophet (sa) appointed Hazrat Khalid bin Walid (ra) to remove it. Accompanied by a group of companions, Hazrat Khalid (ra) went to its temple and destroyed it completely. This marked the end of devotion towards Uzzā and exposed its inability to protect itself or its followers.

The Destruction of Suwa’
A third idol, Suwa’, was also well known among the Arabs and had a dedicated caretaker. The Holy Prophet (sa) sent Hazrat Amr bin al-Aas (ra) to demolish it. Upon reaching the site, Hazrat Amr (ra) destroyed the idol without hesitation. The

caretaker was shocked but soon realized that nothing could stop its destruction. Witnessing this, he accepted Islam and acknowledged the truth of the Prophet (sa).

The Prophet’s Leadership
Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aba) highlighted that during this period, even though the idols were being destroyed and the power of false beliefs was coming to an end, the Holy Prophet (sa) always maintained compassion, wisdom, and mercy. His focus was not on force or cruelty, but on guiding people with love and patience.
