What is going on in Israel and Palestine – Modern Day and beloved Huzoor’s (aba) advice
As you may have been seeing recently in the media, the Palestine and Israel conflict is a decades long conflict that has led to thousands upon thousands of deaths. This article will be about modern day conflict (going on right now). If you have not read my previous article on post 1900s History on this important conflict, I highly suggest you do. However, to give a short summary, after WW2, many Jews were displaced in the Holocaust. This led the UN (United Nations) to unfairly give half of Palestine’s land to the Jews. This led many Arabs to be angry which led to a 9 month conflict. The original idea was scrapped and about 720,000 Arabs were forced to flee or leave their homes. Fighting between Israel and its Arab neighbours would continue on and off for the next 60 years.
Palestine is still fighting for statehood today. Israeli settlers who keep moving into the West Bank complicate the conflict even more. In recent years, a number of nations have pushed for peace agreements, and many of them advocate for a two-state solution. Despite the lack of a peaceful resolution, the area continues to hold significance for people from various ethnic and religious backgrounds. Now what does this have to do with us? We do not live in Palestine nor Israel
so why should we care? We should care because we are muslim and this land
is shown in the Quran. In Surah Al-Ma’idah (5:22) Allah says:
‘O my people, enter the Holy Land which Allah has created for you and do not turn back, for then you will turn losers.’
This shows that the land was meant for the Muslims and was created for us. It’s interesting to note that Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (ra), the Second Khalifa of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, had a divinely inspired vision foretelling a difficult and delicate situation looming over the Muslim world in 1946, two years before Israel was founded. The full text of this vision was published in Al Fazl in a feature article titled “Al-Inzar” (The Warning). The article forewarned the community of an impending challenge for the Muslim world and stated that the only way it would be able to face this challenge was by setting aside their differences and working as a single nation. On August 30, 1946, during his Friday sermon, he also gave the Jamaat the instruction to pray particularly for the Muslim world. The Jewish State of Israel was founded only two years later, posing a wide range of issues for the Arab Muslims living in the region, not just in Palestine. No one would’ve guessed that this conflict would one day develop into a major world crisis.
Especially recently in October 7 2023, a Palestinian group called Hamas conducted a ruthless terrorist attack against the teachings of Islam. However, Israel have been nothing but more ruthless back as more than 10 times the Palestinians have been brutally killed by Israel compared to the Israeli’s killed in October. Since the attacks beloved Huzoor (aba) has repeatedly stressed the need for fervent prayers for all those suffering as a result of this conflict. Furthermore, beloved Huzoor (aba) also explained the importance of the Muslim Umma uniting in light of Hazrat Musleh Maud’s (ra) guidance many years ago.
